Odyssey: A Bad Choice

Following Honda's loss at a class action lawsuit filed by an angry Civic Hybrid driver who wasn't getting the mileage claimed by EPA estimates, Honda is again facing another class action lawsuit. This one is aimed at the power windows in most Honda models between 1994 and 2007 including the Pilot, Odyssey, Accord, Civic, CR-V, Element and Acura MDX models. One of the consumers filing the lawsuit claims that his 2002 Odyssey LX window fell into his door and Honda would not compensate him for his $400 repair and recall the vehicles affected. The class action suit claims that a defective piece of plastic meant to keep windows in place breaks under normal operating conditions and this defect poses a great hazard to drivers and passengers.

Unfortunately, there may not be a good outcome for this deal as power windows in old vehicles often fail no matter which car maker you look at and this may not be Honda's problem, but moreso attributed through wear-and-tear, friction over 10+ years, weather-related corrosion.

As you'd imagine, Honda will be taking on these consumers with their own lawyers. More to come ...
